Training & Professional Development; Nurturing Growth

We believe that learning is a relational act.

Our professional development sessions create space for reflection, dialogue, skill-building, and shared learning. Through interactive activities, real-world scenarios, and practical application, participants are supported to connect new insights to their everyday practice.

While some of our available course offerings are listed below, we also frequently develop custom learning opportunities for clients. If none of the listed options feel quite right, please reach out about Kindred’s  training development services.

A Wise Practice Model

Guided by a Wise Practice philosophy, we recognize that what works in one context may not work in another. Rather than treating professional standards as fixed rules, we explore how they can be thoughtfully adapted to reflect local culture, community knowledge, and lived experience.

Flexible & Modular Design

We believe there are many ways to do this work well. Our role is not to prescribe a single path, but to support practitioners and organizations in finding practices that align with their values, culture, and community context.

We know that every organization has different priorities, capacities, and learning goals. That's why our professional development offerings are designed to be flexible and adaptable.

Sessions can be combined into multi-day learning experiences, delivered as stand-alone workshops, or tailored into shorter sessions that fit your team's needs, schedule, and realities.

Our Core Training Series

  • Designed for leaders who want to move beyond traditional hierarchical management and cultivate leadership practices grounded in reflection, accountability, and care.

    Participants explore topics such as:

    • Leadership styles and adaptive leadership

    • Relationship-centred leadership practices

    • Collaborative problem-solving and decision-making

    • Strategic and operational planning

    • Relational communication and difficult conversations

    • Staff development and reflective supervision

    • Emotional intelligence and self-awareness

    • Culturally grounded approaches to leadership and care

Modules can be delivered as stand-alone workshops or combined into a comprehensive leadership development series tailored to your team's needs and context.

  • Designed for practitioners who want to deepen their understanding of children, youth, and families through a trauma-informed, relationship-centred, and strengths-based lens.

Rather than focusing on managing behaviour, this series invites participants to explore the experiences, needs, strengths, and relationships that shape it. Together, we examine how meaningful connections, reflective practice, and culturally responsive care create the conditions for growth, healing, and belonging.

    Learning experiences may explore:

    • Child and youth development

    • Trauma-informed and relationship-centred practice

    • Mental health and emotional wellbeing

    • Daily life events as opportunities for connection and growth

    • Reflective practice and professional self-awareness

    • Program planning and goal development

    • Professional ethics and boundaries

    • Crisis response, debriefing, and team wellbeing

    • Culturally grounded approaches to care

Modules can be delivered individually or woven together into a customized learning journey that reflects your team's unique context, priorities, and goals.

  • Policies, regulations, and reporting requirements are often experienced as paperwork, compliance, or administrative burden. We take a different approach.

This series helps practitioners and leaders understand the purpose behind regulatory requirements and explore how they can support safety, accountability, advocacy, and high-quality care. Grounded in real-world practice, these learning experiences connect policy to everyday decision-making, helping teams build confidence, competence, and consistency.

    Learning experiences may explore:

    • Duty to report and confidentiality

    • Daily care and supervision

    • Program adaptation and service delivery

    • Care planning for children and youth

    • Discipline and crisis response

    • Household, workplace, and vehicle safety

    • Documentation and reporting practices

    • Investigations and trauma-informed responses

    • Financial stewardship and money management

    • Organizational policies, procedures, and operational practices

Modules can be delivered individually, combined into a comprehensive series, or customized to reflect your organization's unique context and requirements.

  • Creating inclusive environments requires more than policies and good intentions; it involves building cultures where people feel respected, valued, understood, and able to participate fully.

This series supports teams in strengthening communication, deepening their understanding of diverse experiences, and creating environments that foster belonging, dignity, and accessibility for everyone.

    Learning experiences may explore:

    • Respectful workplace practices

    • Communication, boundaries, and conflict resolution

    • Neurodiversity, including ADHD, Autism, and FASD

    • Sensory-informed approaches to support

    • Accessibility and inclusion in everyday practice

    • Building cultures of belonging and psychological safety

Modules can be delivered individually or combined into a customized learning experience that reflects the needs of your team and community.
