Stacey is a dedicated recreation therapist who is deeply committed to enhancing the holistic well-being of individuals and meeting them where they are in their personal recovery journeys. Her career is anchored in a passion for dismantling systemic barriers and championing inclusion and equity for all, finding joy in supporting others as they navigate their unique paths.

With over 13 years as an Inclusion Specialist, Stacey has had the privilege of working with a diverse range of clients, from ages 0 to 87. This extensive experience includes children and adults with developmental disabilities, individuals facing mental health challenges, youth in care, and those with neurological diagnoses. Her knowledge enables her to create safe environments that facilitate reintegration into the community after prolonged clinical settings.

Stacey’s passion for outdoor activities underscores her belief in their importance for mental health. Trained in canoeing, kayaking, fire building, and archery, she skillfully incorporates these activities as therapeutic interventions for individuals grappling with mental health issues. Additionally, she is a certified instructor in the Together in Movement and Exercise program, designed specifically for those who have experienced strokes or other neurological challenges.

In her current role as Regional Manager for Aurelia, Stacey leads a dedicated team in supporting Innu communities in Labrador with on-reserve capacity development initiatives. This role has enriched her understanding of different communities and fostered knowledge sharing that strengthens relationships, ultimately creating safe and trusting environments for all involved.

Over the past couple of years, she has partnered with Memorial University and the Health Authority to launch a pilot project that allows recreation therapists to enter Her Majesty’s Penitentiary and transitional housing. This initiative focuses on providing a variety of interventions to support participants in their transitions from the prison system to society, placing a heavy emphasis on life and relationship skills. Stacey is also continuing her master’s studies to further explore effective ways to support individuals in the corrections system.

Stacey’s unwavering commitment to inclusion and her ability to connect with individuals from all walks of life highlight her belief in the power of community and collaboration. By striving to ensure that every voice is heard, Stacey affirms her dedication to a future where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
